The Children’s Museum of the Highlands has officially reopened their doors at its North Ridgewood Drive location. From the real life farm exhibit–yes your child can totally milk a (fake) cow, to the Publix grocery store where kids can be their own cashier- it’s all back and better than ever!
History of the Museum
According to their website, The Children’s Museum opened in December 1990, and had over 9,000 visitors its first year. The museum focuses on hands-on exhibits of all shapes and sizes to create a space for kids ages 1-12 to play and learn. The museum offers kid-sized activities and areas so children can explore the world around them and expand their imagination through play.
Programs and Special Events
Discovery Camps
The Children’s Museum offers Discovery Camps at various times throughout the year. These camps are a wonderful way to have some hands on fun while learning! Each camp is taught by a Highlands County teacher and is open to children that have finished kindergarten through the fifth grade.
Tot Time
The Children’s Museum has weekly program for preschool age children and their caregivers! ToT Time begins at 10:00 each Tuesday morning and is free with the price of admission to the museum.
The class is held in the camp classroom and parents are asked to stay with their children to help during the learning experience. This program runs while school is in session. For more information – call the museum at (863) 385-5437.

“My grand children are 25, 23, 15 and 15. Over the years this Museum created many moments to interact with my grandkids. What a marvelous setting in a small community to be able to so engage with them. Whether they were five or fifteen this was a great venue.”
